Ambassadorial Briefing this morning

Okay, so our Ambassador here is real serious about mentoring diplomats-to-be. She invited me and my fellow intern/housemate Lyn to attend a working breakfast she is having this morning. She's meeting with all the Ambassadors from European Countries to explain the upcoming foreign aid contract (aka Millineum Challenge Compact) that Ghana will sign with the USA in a few months.
Should be really interesting! And how many interns get to do so much with the big shot, I got lucky for real. I am sure that I will be schlepping some stuff around; handing out notes and generally doing "staff work" (the State Dept name for 'grunt work'). But ya know what, I'll be glad to get a window into how diplomacy works at this level.

Yesturday I got to contribute to a report on our Refugee Camp visit. I wonder what Washington DC will do with the info we sent them yesturday - probably not much. But, just in case someone in the future in DC really wants to do something about rape and youth pregnancy and father absenteeism in a refugee setting...the information will be available there now on their computers. Its funny how the same issues that plague a big city in Michigan plague a small town of Liberian refugees in Ghana.
